Naturalization records up to 1906 have been kept in the Topeka Office of the U.S. Circuit Court and by the clerk of the district court of each county in Kansas. Some records from the Topeka Circuit Court were transferred to the National Archives—Central Plains Region in Kansas City, Missouri. This office also has U.S. District Court records from 1916 to 1966. The FamilySearch Library has acquired some copies of naturalization records from county district courts, and records from the District court under the state. Including Allen, Anderson, Bourbon, Brown, Chase, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Clay, Coffee, Crawford, Doniphan, Douglas, Elk, Franklin, Geary, Greenwood, Harvey, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Leavenworth, Marion, Marshall, McPherson, Miami, Montgomery, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Rooks, Rush, Sedgwick, Shawnee, Stevens, Wabaunsee, Washington, and Wyandotte counties.

Post-1906 Records[edit | edit source]

In 1906 the Immigration and Naturalization Service (now United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) was created, forms were standardized, and duplicate copies of naturalization records were sent by the court to the INS. To access these records, use the Genealogy Program at www.uscis.gov, fill is out and send it to the address listed on the form. You may also contact the National Archives—Central Plains Region at http://www.archives.gov/central-plains/kansas-city/ for naturalization records.
