<FONT size="2.5">The children are back in school. Can’t go to Education Week? Don’t want to fight crowds? Come and join our free classes. Learn from our excellent teachers. We have great consultants who can help you with your family history work. The Payson FamilySearch Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9 am to 9 pm and Saturdays, 10 am - 1 pm.
<FONT size="2.5">This week at the Payson FamilySearch Center we have some amazing teachers. We hope you can come and join us to learn from their expertise. All classes are free. We would like to remind you that this next weekend is Onion Days for Payson City. Come and check out our booth on the northeast corner of the children’s playground at Memorial Park. Monday is the Onion Days Parade starting at 10 am. Due to the Onion Day activities the Payson FamilySearch Center will be closed on Saturday, September 2nd.  


Tuesday, August 22, 10:30 am, Glenn Hammer will be teaching “Avoiding Duplicate Ordinances.” Glenn and his wife, Rose Maree, serve in the Payson FamilySearch Center. As Church Service Missionaries, they can help you build your FamilySearch Tree. Do you get frustrated with the duplication of ordinance submissions? Glenn will teach you ways to avoid duplications and the frustration it can cause.
Tuesday, August 29th at 10:30 am, Steve Lowry will be teaching Attaching HIstorical Records. Steve Lowry is a software engineer, who worked the last 13 years for FamilySearch until retiring last year in April. He serves as a Temple and Family HIstory Leader and continues to  teach several classes a year over zoom on FamilySearch. This class will be a zoom meeting with Steve. He will take questions you have about FamilySearch, after teaching about attaching Historical Records. You can join us at the center for the class or from wherever you are at the following zoom link:

Wednesday, August 23, at 1 pm, Randy Bronson will be teaching “Swedish Records”. Randy has spent extensive time researching Swedish records. Are you stuck or struggling with a line from Sweden? Come to Randy’s class where you can learn ways to research Swedish Records and get help with your questions. Randy and his wife, Melanie, served as directors at the Payson Family History Center for 6 years.  
Wednesday, August 30th, at 1 pm, Olivia Jewel, will be teaching The Hobbyist Genealogist.  Olivia is our past director and is a noted teacher at RootsTech and Education Week. She has a love for doing Family HistoryIn this class you will learn all the apps and sites you can use to help you with your family history. You will learn ways to gather those stories from grandma and grandpa. Come and learn quick and easy ways to interview your children and save it on an app. Bring a friend and your phone to see and learn all that you can do! You can join us on google meet if you are unable to attend.

Thursday, August 24th, at 7 pm, Dennis Ransom will be teaching “Ancestry DNA Workshop: Thru-Lines & Colored Dot System.” Dennis has served at the FamilySearch Center for over 10 years. He is our science guy. Don’t understand your DNA? This Workshop will help you create a family tree on Ancestry and link it to your DNA test results with all the correct options for visibility and sharing. Using your Ancestry family tree matches list, we will explore  Clustering, ThruLines, and Color-code dots to organize your matches.
Thursday, August 31st, at 7 pm in the classroom, Milan Pohontsch, will be teaching Introduction to Germanic ResearchDo your ancestors come from Germany? Are you stuck trying to gather their information? Milan Pohontsch is President of The Foundation for East European Family History Studies. He has about 25,000 hours of research experience in original records and microfilms/digital images for many Eastern European countries. Come and learn the basics of how to research your ancestors from Germany.

Shelly will share resources to assist you in your search for family records. Shelly just finished her bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Family History Research. This week, we will focus on using FamilySearch’s Record Finder. Learn about this tool that directs you to records types and collections that could have the information that answers your research question.
