The Records option has three ways of searching: Names, Collections, and Place. Click on "Tips for Effective Searches" to familiarize yourself on using these searches. When using Names, type in information such as names (first, surname), places (birth, death, etc.), and years (birth, death, etc.). When searching by Collections, type in a collection name such as census, probate, etc. When searching by Place, type in a location for an event such as a birthplace, marriage place, etc. Select "More Info" if you have additional information to input. This limits your search results, so add additional information carefully. On the resulting list of results, there are icons that look like a family tree, a camera, and a page. Clicking on the family tree icon lets you view the attached tree person. The camera icon brings up an image, and the page icon lists the indexed information. | The Records option has three ways of searching: Names, Collections, and Place. When selecting Images to search by, Kraus likes to search the Microfiche directly. | When selecting Images to search by, Kraus likes to search the Microfiche directly. Microfiches have a number that you can type in the search field. They are usually organized by date, so you should know the date of your event. Look at the beginning pages of the microfiche to see the type of events that are recorded and the date range. Then based on the date of your event, you can type in page numbers at the top until you find your event. | ||
Kraus has a caution about using Genealogies. Different people in the same family may have compiled genealogies, and there is a good chance that they will all be a little different. There is no guarantee that one is more accurate than the other. | Kraus has a caution about using Genealogies.
