Revision as of 14:00, 20 January 2011

Purpose[edit | edit source]

Record individuals pronouncing the names of all 120 Kentucky counties to teach genealogists how to correctly pronounce the names of places where their ancestors lived.

Sign Up[edit | edit source]

To sign up, add your name and telephone number to the following schedule. You will receive a telephone call at the scheduled time. The call will only take a few minutes. Your voice will be recorded and converted to audio files for use in FamilySearch Wiki. The files will be stored in WikiMedia Commons.

Example[edit | edit source]

The Kentucky Dialect category in Wikimedia Commons has examples of counties that have been recorded. Internet Explorer is the preferred browser for audio playback.

Schedule[edit | edit source]

All times are Mountain Standard Time (MST), which is two hours behind Eastern Standard Time (EST) and one hour behind Central Standard Time (CST). White boxes represent available time slots.
