Naturalization records may have been filed in any court of record, but most people who applied for citizenship went to the clerk of a district court. You can obtain copies of declarations, petitions, and certificates by contacting the appropriate clerk's office. The FamilySearch Library does not have copies of these records except for Washoe County.
The Nevada State Libraryand Archives has no naturalization records.
The National Archives—Pacific Sierra Region (San Bruno) has records from the two U.S. district courts in Nevada for 1853 to 1956.
Post-1906 Records[edit | edit source]
In 1906 the Immigration and Naturalization Service was created, forms were standardized and duplicate copies of naturalization records were sent by the court to the INS. For naturalization records after September 1906, download a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) form from www.uscis.gov, fill it out and send it to the address listed on the form. You may also contact the National Archives—San Francisco Region.
