Before 1736 Oberhoffen (in Stab Offendorf) was in the territory of Hanau-Lichtenberg. When that line was extinguished in 1736 it was transferred to Hesse-Darmstadt. The rights of all nobility over Oberhoffen were abolished by France effective 11 Aug 1789. This was confirmed by the Peace of Lunéville on 9 February 1801. From 1871 to 1919 Oberhofen was in the German Reich (Oberhofen, Hagenau, Unter=Elsaß, Deutsches Reich).

The Count ordered a change in the religious text of the prayer from 3 October 1680, that they should no longer pray for the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, but to His Majesty the King of France and Navarre. |

CEMETERY

The cemetery in Oberhoffen was near the church, but in 1829 was moved to its present location of approximately 28 Rue du Cimetière (Friedhofstrasse). It was increased in size in 1838. [Heinrich, Geschichte und Geschichten von Oberhofen, 76.] It is reported that most of the grave markers date from the 20th and 21st centuries.
