Collection Description[edit | edit source]

Manuscripts, books, photographs, oral histories, architectural drawings, pamphlets, newspapers, periodicals, maps, microforms, and audiovisual materials dealing with the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ward, branch, mission, and stake records from around the world, including membership records primarily from 1877 to 1970, meeting minutes, and some early emigration records. The Church History Library is the only place to access membership records from 1949 to 1970.
Journal History of the Church: chronological scrapbook of events of the Church of Jesus Christ from 1830 to 2008, includes an index.
Patriarchal Blessings: collection spans from 1833 to the present; the blessings generally includes some genealogical data; blessings may only be requested for deceased, direct-line ancestors.
Missionary, and priesthood quorum records.
Diaries and journals of individuals including pioneers and some Church of Jesus Christ leaders
Published histories of wards, branches, stakes, and missions
Biographical information, photos, and documentation about leaders in the Church of Jesus Christ.
Church of Jesus Christ periodicals and newspapers.
Local unit histories (splitting, merging, starting, or reorganizing of ward, branch, mission, and stake boundaries)
