- Aldrich Mountain, 44°22′39″N 119°27′04″W / 44.3773690°N 119.4510821°W, Named for Ellery Wood Aldrich, an early rancher. Aldrich, along with his son Elmer Oliver Aldrich, was one of a party of ranchers who encountered a band of marauding Paiute Indians in 1878. Young Aldrich was killed and his mutilated body was later found in Aldrich Gulch, 44°20′03″N 119°33′55″W / 44.3340338°N 119.5652517°W, was then named for him. The family name later transferred to Aldrich Mountain and the Aldrich Mountains to the east. Aldrich Creek, 44°27′33″N 119°27′02″W / 44.4590356°N 119.4505289°W, does not flow in the gulch but runs north to John Day River.
