Ambiguous as it relates to Alsace

The German Emperor transferred all the rights of the House of Habsburg to various areas in Alsace; however, the imperial estates should suffer no harm to their rights and freedoms, retain their imperial status, remain subject to the Imperial Court, but without prejudice to the French sovereignty rights.

1680

In the ensuing years King Louis XIV consolidated his control over this region and Frederick Casimir had to take an oath of allegience to King Louis XIV.  The Count ordered a change in the religious text of the prayer from 3 October 1680, that they should no longer pray for the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, but to His Majesty the King of France and Navarre.
