This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.

COMING SOON - Marion Smith - The San Francisco Bay Area Jewish Genealogical Society and Oakland FamilySearch Library are thrilled to present Marian L. Smith, Senior Historian of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly INS). Her presentation will focus on lesser-known federal records of derived citizenship, repatriation, and correspondence covering a variety of citizenship-related problems and topics. While the records

discussed were created after 1906, some involve events that occurred years or decades before. In addition to case studies and examples, the presentation will provide guidance for researching the records at either USCIS or the National Archives.

Oakland California Family History Center

The Oakland (California) Regional Family History Center is one of the largest and most accessible centers for genealogical research in California, with over 9,000 volumes of books, periodicals, family histories, city and county histories, city directories, plus over 37,000 reels of microfilm and 9,000 microfiche containing millions of local vital records and historical census data from all over the world.
