FamilySearch This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.

  • Wednesday: 10am to 4 pm and 7pm to 9 pm
  • Thursday: 10 to 1 pm
  • Saturday: 10am to 1 pm

First staff training will be an introduction to what we want to accomplish from a Center standpoint. This is my responsibliy and have been very lapse in this regard.  However new year new leaf right? I would like to engage each of us in a number of things which we will be exploring in future staff meetings.. but this will give us a start with a heads up of thing to come:

  • Visiting theWiki web site for our Center how to get to it and see upcoming events - you can also edit so dive in.
  • Using the LDS Blog found on the FamilySearch website. Register if you have not and log on will give some quick remedial training in using it is not self intuitive.
  • What is our role as Family History Center Consultants? Do we just staff, or train and in what catagory do we actively participate in Patron growth.

Center Resources[edit | edit source]

Collections[edit | edit source]

  • Family History Library Catalog:; This center has the ability to order any of the films and fiche available through the Family History Library Catalog. if you temporarly assign your film online search to our center, you can see what films we have on hand. May save a charge to order your film at other local centers, then you have the choice to either may the $7.00 charge or drive to visit our center.  BUT don't forget if you choose to reset your home Center to that of your choice. or all future orders will come to our center.
  • (We have approximatly 500 microfilms in our cabinet and an untold number (actually about 21 inches)of microfiche includeing the 1881 Scotland, England and Wales Census.  Most of our patrons doing active research in Italy and Romainia. Lot of bi-lingual conversations going on I listen (but do not participate) welcome your presence and participation in the activity.)
  • We have gone cash-less with the advent of on-line film ordering.

Hardware and Equipment[edit | edit source]

  • We currently have six computers connected to the internet and WIFI is avail for lap top or CAT5 connection. We currently are connected through Dish but will be upgrading to Comcast near term.
    We have five microfilm readers, two microfiche readers and a Canon 300 film scanner attached to a PC for saving film images. It gets a lot of use, bring a zip drive for off line storage though CD's can be burned. at no cost.
