The 2nd Regiment Kentucky Infantry was organized at Camp Clay, Ohio, under William E Woodruff, and was mustered into the United States service on the 13th day of June, 1861. Companies E and G were detailed for the duty to guard the railroad between Murfreesboro and Nashville and were captured by Forests Cavalry in July, 1862.
