1. Search to see if the county page already has neighboring counties listed under the heading "Places and Localities" . If so, continue to step 2.  If not, continue to step 3.

2. Open the county page for editing by clicking on the button "Edit this page".

5. Copy the parent county information under the heading ''Parent Counties''. Copy only the creation year. Do not copy the county seat information. This information will be added to the County Courthouse Infobox. See the example below.  


:d. While still in wikitext, scroll to the top of the page.

:e. Find the sentence <nowiki> *{{PAGENAME}} '''residents''' may also have records in '''Neighboring Counties'''</nowiki>.
7. In the heading box find the words <nowiki> * '''Parent Counties'''</nowiki>.  


:f. Type <nowiki><br> </nowiki>after the sentence.
8. Paste the parent county information copied in step "3".  


:g. Paste the neighboring county information copied in step "c".
:a. If there are quotation marks around the formation year, remove them.
:b. This paste adds links to the respective county Wiki pages.
:c. Add a <nowiki> <br> </nowiki> after the last word.
:d. See the example below.
 
9. Scroll back to the heading "History: Parent County".
 
10. Delete he information you copied.
 
:a. DO NOT delete the county creation date or the county seat information.
:b. If the county creation date and the county seat information are already deleted, also delete the heading "Parent County".
 
9. In the Summary box at the bottom of the page type "added parent counties to heading box".

The purpose of this task is to find and post the parent counties from which the county was formed.

Instructions[edit | edit source]

1. Search the county page to find parent counties listed under the heading "History: Parent County".

2. Open the county page for editing by clicking on the button "Edit this page".

3. Click on the word 'Wikitext' in the top left corner of the toolbar. All editing will be done in Wikitext. If at any time you save and then wish to do more editing, you will need to return to Wikitext to complete the following instructions.

4. Scroll to the heading ===Parent County=== .

5. Copy the parent county information under the heading Parent Counties. Copy only the creation year. Do not copy the county seat information. This information will be added to the County Courthouse Infobox. See the example below.
