Usage[edit source]

{{PD}} is a generic Wiki template for works in the public domain. Where possible, prefer more specific public domain (PD) templates such as:

{{PD-author}} for works released into the public domain by another author
{{PD-ineligible}} for works ineligible for copyright
{{PD-old}} generic template for works whose copyright has expired
{{PD-old-100}} copyright expired because author died more than 100 year ago
{{PD-self}} for works placed in public domain by the author himself
{{PD-US}} in the public domain in the United States because published prior to 1923
{{PD-USGov}} public domain because it was created by a government entity
{{PD-USGov-Atlas}} PD because it is in the government National Atlas
{{PD-USGov-Interior-HABS}} government created by Historic American Buildings Survey
{{PD-USGov-NPS}} PD because created by National Park Service employee
{{PD-USGov-USDA}} PD because created by U.S. Dept. of Agriculture employee

This template puts images into the Category:Public domain images.
