Task Description[edit | edit source]

Add links to Find A Grave and other online cemetery records for each of the 29 counties in Utah.

Steps[edit | edit source]

These steps are actually easy. Together we can improve and simplify the wording.

Step 1: Prepare the county Wiki page[edit | edit source]

A) Go to the "Cemeteries" heading for the county.
B) If there already something there for this county,

1) Make space for what you will be adding by simply pressing enter several times to move that information further down from the "Cemeteries heading". We want to respect the work of others, so we won't change it or remove it at this time.

2) Make a note like "Some info already in county" in the Comments section of the assignment chart for this county.

Step 2: Start the Cemetery section[edit | edit source]

A) Copy (using WikiText): {{UTCoCemeteries}}

FYI: This is a template, which uses the same information over and over. If changes need to be made, they get made in the template, which fixes it everywhere. Big time saver.

How to do it: Highlight starting with Template:And ending with then press the Ctrl + C keys

B) Paste (using WikiText) immediately under the Cemeteries heading of the county page.

[How to do it: Put your cursor below the "Cemeteries" heading and press Ctrl + V keys.]

Step 3: Finish the Find A Grave information[edit | edit source]

A) Copy (using WikiText) the following -- including the asterisk (*)

[http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cs&

B) Paste it (using WikiText) in front of the words "Find A Grave]" on the county page.

It should look like this:

*[http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cs& Find A Grave]

[If necessary, delete the carriage return.]

C) Type "editing cemeteries section" in the Summary and Save page.

FYI: Saving now lets you follow the link in Step D

D) Get the Find A Grave link for the correct Utah county

Click this link, which takes you to the cemetery locator section of Find A Grave.
Select the Utah, then the county you are working on and click Search
Copy the address (URL) for that search

E) Fix the Find A Grave link on the county Wiki page

On the county page, edit the Cemeteries section (in WikiText)
Place the cursor just after the "[" bracket
Paste the URL

F) Type "Finishing Find a grave link" in the Summary and Save page

McHenry Co. IL USGenWeb Tombstone Project usually gives the names of the deceased in alphabetical order by last name with birth and death dates plus any remarks.
Illinois Cemeteries by county.
ePodunk list of McHenry County cemeteries gives the names of the cemeteries in the county with a link to more information such as address, phone number, and web site.
