Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 46th Regiment, Missouri Infantry (Union) was organized at Springfield, Mo., August to November, 1864, for six months.They were attached to District of Southwest Missouri, Dept. of Missouri, to March, 1865. 2nd Brigade, 1st Sub-District, District of Middle Tennessee, Dept. of the Cumberland, to May, 1865.[1]
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
