The Learning Commons, featured on Level 1, offers two large information retrieval cafes; a 40-workstation computer lab; two electronic instruction classrooms; digitizing and scanning services; a writing center; a math tutoring center; research assistance; a language tutoring and cultural center; a center for computer technology training and media editing; and personal computer help services. The Babbidge Library also houses a Map and Geographic Information Center (MAGIC), which is the largest public map collection in New England and a nationally acclaimed resource for geospatial data. MAGIC, in collaboration with several other campus departments, operates the Connecticut State Data Center, the state's official liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau, which provides a single portal for all socioeconomic data for the state and its municipalities.
