A church directory lists church ministers and parishes and other ecclesiastical jurisdictions, such as presbyteries, synods, and so forth. Directories can provide important information, including:
- Addresses for church officials.
- Lists of church jurisdictions and headquarters.
- Chronological lists of principal church officials.
- Brief biographies or career summaries of ministers.
- Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae - the succession of ministers in the parish churches of Scotland
- Addresses of church schools or other institutions.
