Project Description
- On the near east side of Conroe, Texas, is a small, African American cemetery that has been lost to human memory, but it has not been forgotten by nature.
The Conroe Community Cemetery never had a name. It was simply known as the Conroe Cemetery, No-Name Cemetery, or the Community Cemetery among the older
African Americans in the community. Burials there date back to the 1800s and include not only former slaves, but some of the most influential African Americans
in local and Texas history.
