The languages spoken on Sint Eustatius (an island in the Caribbean and a special municipality of the Netherlands) are: [1]

  • English - 92.7% of the population - the language of everyday life and the only language used in Education.
  • Dutch - 36.0% - the official language of Sint Eustatius.
  • Spanish - 33.8%
  • Papiamento (also known as Papiamentu) - 20.8% - this is a Portuguese-based creole language
  • A local English-based creole is also spoken informally.
