The 8th Regiment, Kansas Infantry was organized for service in the State and along the border August, 1861. Companies "A," "D," "G" and "H" were organized at Lawrence, Kansas, October, 1861. The regiment mustered out November 29, 1865. It then moved to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, November 30, 1865 to January 6, 1866, and was honorably discharged January 9, 1866.
