Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 22nd Regiment, Connecticut Infantry was organized at Hartford, Connecticut and mustered in on the 20th day of September, 1862.  This regiment mustered out July 7, 1863.

For more information about the 22nd Regiment Infantry and its history, see:

  • History of the Twenty-Second Regiment of the Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, 1862-1863, by the United States Army, Connecticut Infantry Regiment, 22 (1862-1863).  This book can be found at www.worldcat.org.

Companies in this Regiment[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded.  This regiment was composed of men from all parts of Connecticut, but the majority of men in each unit resided in Hartford County:

Company A -
