Part 1: Set up your sandbox[edit | edit source]
1. Select a county on the task list by putting your name in the name column.
2. Create a sandbox for this page.
3. Copy and paste the code below into the sandbox and click save.

4. Wherever you see the words COUNTY NAME in your sandbox, replace it with your county's name. Wherever you see the words STATE NAME, replace it with the name of the state.
5. Click save.
Part 2: Update the "Tombstone Transcriptions Online" Section[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the heading "Tombstone Transcriptions Online" in your sandbox.
Part 2A: Add the Find A Grave Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to Find A Grave.
2. Type in the name of the county in the cemetery location search box and click search.
3. Copy the URL for the search results.
4. Go back to your sandbox and find the heading "Tombstone Transcriptions Online" and find the code for Find A Grave. See example below.

5. Replace "URL" with the link you copied in step 3. Make sure that there is a space and then the name of the link (Find A Grave) in between the open and close brackets.

6. If the county is not included in Find A Grave, link to the main search page. Copy the URL below.

7. Replace "URL" in the table with the URL you copied in step 6.
8. Go to part 2B.
Part 2B: Add the BillionGraves Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to BillionGraves.
2. Click the blue button near the top right corner of the page that says "Search BillionGraves."
3. Enter in the name of your county and state and click search.
4. Copy the URL for the page.
5. Go back to your sandbox and find the heading "Tombstone Transcriptions Online."
6. Look for the code for BillionGraves in that section. See example below.

7. Replace "URL" with the BillionGraves URL you copied in step 4.
8. If the county is not included in BillionGraves, link to the search page for BillionGraves. Copy the URL below.

9. Go to part 2C.
Part 2C: Add the U.S. GenWeb Link[edit | edit source]
1. Do not move over any links that have GenWeb or USGW in the name of the link or the URL. We will be reducing this to one link.
2. Go to US GenWeb Archives
3. Click on the table of contents for your state.
4. Click on or find your county.
5. Copy the URL.
6. Find the code for the USGenWeb link in your sandbox. See example below.

8. Highlight where it says URL and paste the link. Make sure there is a space between the link and the name of the link.
9. If there is no county page, link to the page for the state.
10. Go to part 2D.
Part 2D: Add the Interment.net Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to Interment.net.
2. Select your state and then county.
3. Find the code you will be replacing. It will look like this.

4. Copy the URL from the county page on Interment.net.
5. Replace "URL" in your sandbox with the link you copied in step 4.
6. If the county is not included on Interment.net, link to the page for the state.
7. Go to part 2E.
Part 2E: Address Remaining Links in the Section[edit | edit source]
1. Go to your county's page in the wiki and find the cemeteries section. Then find the "Tombstone Transcriptions Online" section.
2. Check all remaining links in the section.
3. If they are broken links, they can be skipped.
4. If you've already placed the link in the table, it can be skipped.
5. Do not move over any links that have GenWeb or USGW in the name of the link or the URL. We will be reducing this to one link.
6. All remaining links that still work and contain cemetery information can be used on the new page. Make sure they are placed under the appropriate heading in the table in your sandbox.
7. Please place all links below what is already in the table, with a bullet point, the link and any explanation following. See the example below:

Part 3: Update the "Tombstone Transcriptions in Print" section[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the "Tombstones Transcriptions in Print" heading in your sandbox.
Part 3A: Add the Family History Library Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the Family History Library Catalog.
2. Type the name of your county in the search box and click search.
3. Find cemeteries in the search results and click it.
4. Click one of the links to the cemetery catalog entries.
5. From the catalog entry, find the heading "Subjects: Locality Subjects".
6. Under the subjects heading, you will find a link that says "United States, YOUR STATE, YOUR COUNTY - Cemeteries". Click the link. See image below.
7. This takes you to search results that only include cemetery records for your county.
8. Find and copy the subject number for the cemeteries in the county. See image below for example.
9. Go to the "Tombstone Transcriptions in Print" heading.
10. You will use a template to place the link. See example below.

11. Find the template in the table in the sandbox under the heading "Tombstone Transcriptions in Print."
12. Replace the words SUBJECT NUMBER with the subject number you copied in step 8.
13. If there are no cemetery entries for your county in the catalog, delete the template from the table. See below for example.

14. Go to part 3B.
Part 3B: Add the WorldCat Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to WorldCat.org.
2. Type the name of your county in the search box, followed by "county cemetery records".
3. Copy the URL for the search results.
4. Find the place for the link that says:
[URL WorldCat.org]
5. Replace "URL" with the link you copied in step 3. Make sure there is a space between the link and the name of the link.
6. If there are no entries for WorldCat, link to the search page for WorldCat instead. Use the URL below.

7. Go to Part 3C.
Part 3C: Address Remaining Links in the Section[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the "Tombstones Transcriptions in Print" heading on the wiki page.
2. Check all remaining links in the section.

Part 4: Update List of Cemeteries in the County[edit | edit source]
1. Go to the "List of Cemeteries in the County" heading on the wiki page and your sandbox.
Part 4A: Add the Find A Grave Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to Find A Grave.
2. Click cemeteries on the menu across the top.
3. Enter the county name in the cemetery location box.
4. Click the orange search button on the right.
5. Copy the URL for the search results.
6. Go back to your sandbox and find the heading "List of Cemeteries in the County" Look to the right of the heading where it says:

7. Replace "URL" with the link you copied in step 5. Make sure that there is a space and then the name of the link (Find A Grave) in between the open and close brackets.
8. If your county is not included in Find A Grave, use the cemetery search link instead. Copy the URL below.

9. Paste the URL you copied over "URL" in the sandbox.
10. Go to Part 4B.
Part 4B: Add the FamilySearch Places Link[edit | edit source]
1. Go to FamilySearch Places
2. Type the name of your county in the search box.
3. Select the top search result.
4. Click the blue target-shaped icon next to county name.
5. Click the link that says "add filter".
6. Type cemetery into the "place type" search box and select cemetery.
7. Copy the URL for the search results.
8. Go back to your sandbox and find the heading "List of Cemeteries in the County." Look below the heading where it says:

9. Highlight "URL" and paste the link you copied in step 7. Make sure that there is a space and then the name of the link (FamilySearch Places) in between the open and close brackets.
10. Go to Part 4C.
Part 4C: Add the BillionGraves Link[edit | edit source]
1. The code should be left as is in the table.
Part 5: Resources Below the Table[edit | edit source]
1. Look below the cemeteries table on the wiki page for any other cemetery resources. Any that should be kept need to be moved into the table in your sandbox.
2. Evaluate each link to determine if it should be moved to the new table in your sandbox.
- Links already in the table in your sandbox can be skipped. This includes digital books that are listed in the FamilySearch catalog or other FamilySearch catalog entries for individual collections.
- Anything that does not link to lists of cemeteries in the county or people buried in the county.
- Any broken links can be skipped.
- Skip any links that have GenWeb or USGW in the name of the link or the URL. We will be reducing this to one link.
- FamilySearch digital library books can be replaced with the code below under "tombstone transcriptions online". Replace COUNTY NAME and STATE NAME with the name of the county.

3. Move any resources left over to your sandbox, placing them with the appropriate heading in the table. Make sure you start with a bullet point.
4. Click save.
5. Put the date in the task list and add the link to your sandbox to the sandbox column.
