To NARROW your search to materials specific to the Oakland FamilySearch Library, take these steps:
- Click on the Catalog button above
- Under Availability, click on "Family History Center"
- Press the down arrow to select "Oakland California FamilySearch Library"
- Search by Places, Surnames, Titles, Authors, Subjects or Keywords
To BROADEN your search to other family history centers and to the holdings of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, select their names from the drop down "Family History Center" list.

Books and Resources of Local Interest
The library has an 8,0000-volume family history book collection, including a Special Collections section.
The library also has several resources of local interest, including:
- Alameda County Obituary Card File 1985-2002; an alphabetical card file containing more than 35,000 obituaries clipped from Alameda County newspapers (95% from the "Alameda Times Star")
- California Mission Records: microfilmed copies of original mission records dating from the 1770s to the early 1900s
- Growing collection of church records from the Azores
- Records of births, marriages and deaths from Tonga. These typescript copies of vital records in Tonga date from the late 1860's to 1942
- City Directories - extensive collection across many parts of the United States

Maps, Book Binding and Discovery Center
A large collection of local maps is available. Book Binding services are also available with a fully equipped workshop. The Discovery Center allows patrons to learn more about their heritage, their family name and their ancestors.

Lunchroom & Family/Children's Area
A lunchroom facility is available for patrons, including a refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven. A designated area for small children to play is available inside.
