Spanish Colonization (1521-1810)

In 1521 the Spanish Empire colonized the area of current Mexico, renaming it New Spain. The War of Independence lasted from 1810-1821, when the territory became the sovereign state of Mexico with the signing of the Treaty of Cordoba.
