The California State Lands Commission has the early land grant information, as well as other real property data. They have land surveys, titles, property boundaries, school lands, maps and plats, Mexican land and rancho grants.[1]
The Commission published a book Grants of Land in California Made by Spanish or Mexican Authorities which is available online here. The rancho information is organized by the current California county and includes some maps.
Some plat maps are available online. For example, booklet about the American River containing some maps is online here. Use the search function on the Commission website to find others.
