• Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy 21-26 January 2018 $
  Hosted by the Utah Genealogical Association, the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG) is a week-long intensive educational experience that takes students deep into their topic of choice. Students attending SLIG have the opportunity to advance their education with renowned genealogy experts, network through special events, and tap into the wealth of resources at the nearby Family History Library. SLIG is dedicated to offering courses that fill a high-intermediate and advanced-level educational need. We additionally offer courses structured to help intermediate and transitional genealogists strengthen their core understanding of the research process.

• International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) International Conference on Jewish Genealogy 7-12 August 2016 Seattle, WA $

• Northwest Genealogy Conference:The conference will be held August 17th – 20th and will kick off Wednesday the 17th with a Free Day for beginning genealogists.  The next three days will be filled with informative and entertaining classes by nationally known speakers:  Thursday's theme is "Gathering Your Family's Story" with Claudia Breland as the keynote speaker; Friday will be "Tools to Help Tell the Story" with Lisa Louise Cooke; Saturday's will be "DNA, How is it a Part of Your Family's Story?" with Blaine Bettinger.  In addition to the keynotes, all three days will include many classes taught by talented speakers. • New York State Family History Conference 15-17 September 2016 Syracuse, NY $
  Hosted by the Central New York Genealogical Society and the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, the 2016 New York State Family History Conference will run concurrently with the annual conference of the Association for Public Historians of New York State. Registrants to the NYSFHC Conference are welcome to attend APHNYS lectures and field trips, and APHNYS registrants are welcome to attend NYSFHC lectures. The Third New York State Family History Conference will feature two and a half days of four simultaneous lecture tracks and field trips and will also include a vibrant exhibitor and vendor hall. Early sponsors include FamilySearch, findmypast, the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.

• Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair, October 22, 2016 (Free!) The Indiana State Library will host the annual Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair in downtown Indianapolis. Admission is free and open to the general public. This year’s theme is “200 Years of My Indiana Home,” examining the lives and times of Hoosiers throughout the years and exploring the homes and neighborhoods in which they lived.  Attendees will learn how to incorporate local history, architecture, house history, and maps and other land record resources into their family research. Speakers include Jill Morelli, who will speak on house histories – looking at the “genealogy” of your house, and using Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps in your research; and Ann Staley, who will be speaking on the everyday lives of our ancestors.  Ann will also examine city directories, how to locate them, and how to utilize them in your research.
