Community Meeting Agenda 19 January 2010

We will use MeetingPlace for the Community Meeting on 19 January 2010.

To Attend the Meeting:

• Go to MeetingPlace or MeetingPlace Home and enter your Meeting ID 9111 and click the "Attend Meeting" button
• If requested, Sign in with your LDS Account or as a Guest
• Select the desired "Connect Me" options and enter the phone number that you want MeetingPlace to call you at
• Click the Connect button

To Attend the Meeting Without Using your Computer:

• Dial into 801-240-2663 (Local/International) or 877-453-7266 (US Toll-free)
• Follow the prompts to enter the Meeting ID 9111 and join the meeting

First-time users should run the MeetingPlace Test to verify they can participate in a web meeting. Since November we have had problems calling into Adobe Acrobat for the audio portion of the meeting. I hope that by using MeetingPace, the audio portion of the meeting will be easier to join, and the recording of the meeting will also be improved.

Join Wiki Community Maintenance Projects

Stay informed and help the wiki grow by joining one or more community projects that will help the wiki be the best it can be! We invite you to report in future Community Meetings on your activities in the project you choose to join. The follow projects are ready and waiting for your participation:

• Help develop the Manual of Style
• Help develop the Dispute resolution
• Help welcome and train new authors in the Wiki by joining the Welcoming committee
• Help answer questions in the FamilySearch Wiki Forum
• Add or help monitor Maintenance Templates on pages in the wiki as needed
• Help convert portal pages to un-portal pages
• Help with solving Unresolved issues that are listed on the Category:Unresolved page
• Help fix the pages that have double redirects
• Help by linking dead end pages
• Help merge articles - when two or more articles contain the same or similar content they are flagged for review and possible merging
• Help create awareness of the maintenance tasks by developing the FamilySearch Wiki:Maintenance page with directions and links to categories, templates, and other pages that describe the maintenance process on the wiki.
• Create the Maintenance navigational template similar to the one found on Wikipedia for inclusion on the FamilySearch Wiki:Maintenance page
• The last item on our list is one of the most important things you can do to help the wiki: Recruit - we need more users like you! Help others come to the wiki and get involved! The wiki will improve with each new user who is willing to help with the development of the processes needed to help the wiki grow!

Current Status of the New Login

Log in problem - please refer to discussion page. Also note that the current status of all known CIS log-in migration issues are documented in the FamilySearch Wiki Technical Support Forum. The Known Issues page identifies the issues and includes either a resolved or unresolved status.

• Log-in not possible - resolved
• Sign-in Fix for IE6/7/8
• Log-in is much worse
• Security certificate problem
• After sign-in, user is redirected to special page
• User signs in as themselves, but are signed in as someone else - resolved
• Session time-out - short term resolution in testing
• "My watchlist" is gone (for some) - resolved
• Combine options still remains after combining is completed (this issue is related to the session time-out, see above)
• Issues related to 3+ accounts being combined - resolved
• Lost history/edits after combining accounts - resolved
• "My contributions" is empty (for some?) - resolved

Community Involvement in the Design Process

Please sign your name here if you are interested in previewing the new category widget which is currently being designed for implementation on the wiki. The widget will help make it easier for users to add categories to pages in the wiki. The meeting will be conducted through MeetingPlace by Fran at a time other than Tuesday's Community Meeting. Sign here with three ~ tildes:

Glitch??

I am seeing this all over in both Firefox and IE:
Baker County, Oregon (change to any other page such as Germany, Pennsylvania, etc and still see it)

This started showing up last week. There aren't any comments about it in Wiki's Known Issues or in the Forums about this sudden appearance.

What's strange about it, "Edit" is displayed even if I am not signed in.

I am not sure I understand the first part. I understand that "Edit" is showing up whether someone is signed in or not. I would guess this started with the single sign-in as it does take one to the right page for signing on. That should be an easy thing to fix, but I personally would consider it a lower priority. It's not in sign in bar or in nav. It's in the page itself. It's gone when you click on (edit) and get the message saying I am not signed in. Then it is gone. dsammy 18:09, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, "Edit" should not appear when the user is not signed on anyway. What is gone? I tried (on the latest version of Firefox)

1. Going to Baker County, Oregon, while not signed in, and click on "Edit" (the link really should not be there)
2. Sign in
3. Make sure I am at Baker County, Oregon again and the page is still there whether I "Edit" or not.

Is that what you are doing with different results or am I still not understanding what you are saying? Thomas_Lerman 18:20, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Were you thinking "Edit" being in nav bar or in blue sign in bar at top? The "Edit"s I mentioned were below the sign in bar and above the stub This article is a stub. You can help FamilySearch Wiki by expanding it. (some articles have another line above the stub such as this disambig stub link "This article is about a northwest Oregon county. For other uses, see Baker."
By the way, the mysterious edits are gone after I clicked on them.

It sounds like we are making progress with getting down to the needed details. I am talking about the only "Edit" that is on the page . . . between the top banner and the search box. Your description sounds like you may be using a different skin . . . which skin are you using? Thomas_Lerman 19:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Out of curiosity, when was the decision reached in the 08 Sep 2009 meeting rescinded concerning taking of meeting notes? I personally do not believe the chat sufficiently covers the discussions that are verbal. Thomas_Lerman 22:15, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
