* '''Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair''', October 22, 2016 '''(Free!) '''The Indiana State Library will host the annual Indiana Genealogy and Local History Fair in downtown Indianapolis. Admission is free and open to the general public. This year’s theme is “200 Years of My Indiana Home,” examining the lives and times of Hoosiers throughout the years and exploring the homes and neighborhoods in which they lived. Attendees will learn how to incorporate local history, architecture, house history, and maps and other land record resources into their family research. Speakers include Jill Morelli, who will speak on house histories – looking at the “genealogy” of your house, and using Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps in your research; and Ann Staley, who will be speaking on the everyday lives of our ancestors. Ann will also examine city directories, how to locate them, and how to utilize them in your research. | |||
