Feudal Government Calendars (Daimyocho)[edit | edit source]

What they are[edit | edit source]

These records are roughly equivalent to feudal court records. They cover the time period from 1543 to 1867.

Use these records to[edit | edit source]

To get birth, marriage, death dates and changes of samurai residences.

Content[edit | edit source]

This record contains:

  • Names of feudal samurai
  • Names of villagers who, for various reasons, transacted business with or otherwise came before the courts of the feudal lords (daimyo)
  • Family relationships
  • Details of the events, including dates of birth, death, and marriage for some individuals
  • Changes of samurai residences.

How to obtain them[edit | edit source]

The Family History Library has films of all of these records. They are also found in Morioka City Hall and the National Archives of Japan.
