The Hickengrund is made up of four villages Niederdresselndorf, Oberdresselndorf, Lützeln, and Holzhausen. Today these villages are in the municipality of Burbach in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Detlev Kretzer has an excellent website www.hickengrund.de written in German about this area. His informative copyright website contains information on the history, genealogy and dialect of the area.
The German Wikipedia also has a short article about the area: Hickengrund.
Church Records
[edit | edit source]
The records in the FamilySearch Catalog are found under Germany, Preußen, Westfalen, Niederdresselndorf
Under church records are found two listings:
Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1826-1874
The Niederdresselndorf church books were begun on 21 November 1587 by Pastor Jacob Juncker. At first he only recorded baptisms. Marriages were recorded beginning in1590, followed by communicants starting in 1598. The recording of deaths was not begun until 1658. In 1587 the parish of Niederdresselndorf included the Hickengrund villages of Niederdresselndorf, Oberdresselndorf, and Lützeln. Holzhausen, the fourth Hickengrund village, was in the parish of Haiger until 1607.[1]
