Vital Records Births, Baptisms, or Christenings; Marriages; Deaths or Burials - Church Records and Civil Registration FamilySearch Historical Record Collection for the Netherlands has church records (best record to use before 1811) and civil registration (best record to use after 1811). However, they are much easier to navigate using Zoek Akten as an index. Instructions for Zoek Akten: Click on the two-letter abbreviation tab for the province. This will bring up a list of localities. Click on the locality you want. Next you will see a list of record types to select. English interface is not available at this time. Wie Was Wie -a genealogical collection created by the Dutch Rijksarchiefdienst (National Archives), taken directly from the Civil Register, the most important Dutch source for genealogical research. Marriage records from all provinces were entered first into the system. Most of the participating archives are also entering records of birth and death.
