What records exist in the Family History Library for the country of Bulgaria?

The Family History Library has a small book collection and microfilms of civil registration for few districts. Use the Family History Library Catalog to find any record available from the Family History Library that may be helpful to you. In the catalog, you can find the film numbers you need to order records. The catalog is available at www.familysearch.org and at family history centers.

To see a listing of all localities that are represented in the catalog, go to www.familysearch.org, click Library, and then click Library Catalog.

1. Click Place Search. You will see: Place Part of (optional) 2. For the “Place”, type: Bulgaria
3. For “Part of”, leave blank
4. Click on Bulgaria blue link
5. Click on View Related Places
6. Then choose a district, such as Bulgaria, Sofiya
7. Click on View Related Places
8. Then find a locality within that district, such as Bulgaria, Sofiya, Aldomirovtsi
9. Then select a topic, such as Civil Registration
10. Click on the title you want
11. Click on View Film Notes
12. Look for the kind of record you want for the years you want. Write the FHL film number.

If the district or the locality that you need is not listed, check the Family History Library Catalog again for national level records that may be helpful.

4. Click on Bulgaria blue link
5. Then find a topic, such as Bulgaria-Minorities
6. Click on the title you want
7. Write the FHL call number or click on View Film Notes
8. Look for the kind of record you want. Write the FHL film number.
