HOLNE, a '''parish''', in the union of Totnes, hundred of Stanborough, Stanborough and Coleridge, and S. divisions of Devon, 4 miles (W.) from Ashburton. It comprises 4197 acres, of which 2000 are common or waste land: the river Dart here rapidly pursues its course along a romantic rocky dell, beautifully fringed with wood.
