This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Center, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.

Coming Events

June 8 – 9 – The Oakland FamilySearch Library will be live streaming presentations from the Southern California Genealogical Society Jamboree starting at 8:30A Saturday. Classes are as follows:

2:00 PM to 3:00 PM - Turning Genealogy into Family History: Creating Stories from Stats (Jean Wilcox Hibben PhD, MA, CG)
3:30 PM to 4:30 PM - Finding Your Family in the French and Indian Wars (Leland Meitzler)
5:00 PM to 6:00 PM - Staying Safe Online (Thomas MacEntee)

Oakland California Family History Center

The Oakland (California) Regional Family History Center is one of the largest and most accessible centers for genealogical research in California, with over 9,000 volumes of books, periodicals, family histories, city and county histories, city directories, plus over 37,000 reels of microfilm and 9,000 microfiche containing millions of local vital records and historical census data from all over the world.
