Brief History

The 14th Regiment, Kansas Cavalry was organized at Fort Scott and Leavenworth April, 1863, as a Battalion of 4 Companies for escort to General Blunt (Blunt's Escort). The regiment organized at Fort Scott, December, 1863. 3rd Rgiment Wisconnsin Cavalry, and 2nd Regiment Kansas Infantry (African descent) (83rd Regiment United States Colore Invantry, new) (detachments)

It mustered out June 25, 1865.[1]
