The Louth Naturalists, Antiquarian and Literary Society collects, conserves and displays objects relating to the history, antiquities, natural history and literature of Louth and district for the benefit of the public, and as a resource for schools and researchers. The Society also promotes and publishes the results of local research and organises public lectures and excursions.

Civil Registration Offices

The General Register Office holds a central copy of all birth, marriage, and death registrations in England. These certificates can be ordered from their website (a login is required but it is free to register and search). However, in some cases research can be more efficient working with the smaller, more specific records collections of county/district registry offices.

Lincolnshire Archives is the Diocesan Record Office, and it has custody of the Bishop’s Registers, Bishop’s Transcripts of parish registers, marriages licences and wills proved by the Lincoln Consistory Court.
