Canada Geographical Names

The Canadian Geographical Names Data Base (CGNDB) helps to find the location of a place in Canada.

Content[edit | edit source]

Site provides the following searches.
- Name of a place
  - Query by the name of a city, town, lake or other geographical feature.
- Coordinates
  - Query by CGNDB Coordinates
- Rectangular area
- Unique key
  - Query by CGNDB Unique Identifier or Feature ID
- Alphabetical list

The results list shows:
- Name
- Province or territory
- Feature type
- Location
- NTS (National Topographic System) map
- Details
- Map

Using the site[edit | edit source]

1. On the left, under the heading GeoNames Query, click on one of the following:

Name
Coordinates
Rectangular area
Unique Code
Alphabetical list

2. Follow the instructions give on the screen.
