Many Welsh place names are made up of several elements.

Literally translated the name Rhosllannerchrugog comes from:

  • rhos "moor"
  • llannerch "glade"
  • grugog "heathery"

hence Moor of the Heathery Glade. Unsurprisingly it is often known simply as Rhos!
