British Colonization (1899-1961)[edit | edit source]
After being threatened by the Ottoman Empire, the ruler of Kuwait signed the Anglo-Kuwaiti Agreement of 1899 and became a British Protectorate. The Sheikhdom of Kuwait remained a British protectorate until 1961.[1]
