Established 1965

The Pennington Research Association closed in 2022 and their files were transferred to the National Genealogical Association. From a message August 2023 to members: "Last year we announced that the Pennington Research Association (PRA) and the National Genealogical Society (NGS) signed an agreement to support PRA as it ended its operations. Part of that agreement was NGS's pledge to ensure the Pennington family legacy continues by maintaining the PRA page on MyHeritage and offering a one-year complimentary membership to NGS. In addition, we now maintain the PRA's digital files. The Pennington Family Collection is now available by contacting National Genealogical Society. Please include “Pennington Research” in the subject line of the email. Other Pennington family records continue to be maintained by Earlham College."

History of the Pennington Research Association, Inc. (PRA)
The Pennington Research Association (PRA) was founded for the sole purpose of the collection, preservation, maintenance, and dissemination of materials relating to the genealogical structure of the Pennington Family, with an intent to gather all Pennington cousins together, provide genealogical assistance and work together to further Pennington research. Pennington Pedigrees were published twice each year.

Bee Wilson Holmes, Founder started the Pennington Research Association in 1965 by collecting and sharing information about the Pennington family. Slowly the circle of Pennington "cousins" expanded and the first "Pennington Lending Magazine" appeared. The first "magazine" Volume 1 with 3 issues started in October 1968. In 1970 Volume 2 with 3 issues was published. It didn't take long for us to grow and soon a decision was made to create a formal organization. We first agreed to identify ourselves as the Pennington Research Association in 1979 at our meeting in Wichita, Kansas. We incorporated in 2001.
