Nobility Records[edit | edit source]

Nobility Records [Šlechtické písemnosti] consist of a variety of records concerning noble families. These records are from 1300 to 1918. These can include:

Personal family documents [doklady 12th to 20th century] - baptism, marriage and death certificates, announcements, family correspondence, diaries, diplomas.

  • Investigations [investigace 16th to 19th century] - records of investigation whether an individual belonged to nobility or not, including genealogical tables, armorials, baptism, marriage and death certificates.
  • Other - Lists of coats of arms [amalesy 1530 to1800], genealogical tables [genealogické tabulky 12th to 18th century], lists of nobility [seznamy šlechty 1639 to 1850].

These records can be found in the district archives [okresní archívy]. Many are included in distinct family collections of the archives. And it may be possible to search these records in person at archives in Czechia.
