This template has been deprecated and is no longer used. It has been replaced by the Image Citation template.
Purpose[edit source]
All images of records found on FamilySearch.org must be documented/cited/sourced. This template can be added to articles about FamilySearch Historical Record Collections where images are available to view and browse. This template goes in the section "Citations for This Collection" underneath the "Collection Citation" and "Record Citation Link" (if any). The template states where patrons can find the citation for images of records they searched and/or found on FamilySearch.org and creates a link to the "browse images" page of the collection.
Parameters & Usage[edit source]
Collections that include images to view and browse through have what is called a “browse through images" feature on the collection landing page under the heading "View Images in this Collection"; see this page for an example: Puerto Rico, Civil Registration, 1805-2001.
It is only included in articles for collections that have images of records, such as this one with only images of records, Alabama, Jefferson County, Circuit Court Papers (FamilySearch Historical Records), and this one that has both indexed records and images of records, Puerto Rico, Civil Registration (FamilySearch Historical Records)
When the template coding is in place, it produces a line of text that says:
“The citation for an image is available on each image in this collection by clicking Show Citation at the bottom left of the image screen. You can browse through images in this collection by visiting the browse page for [link and name of collection].”
- |CID=CID
- This is where the collection identification number goes; the CID is the reference for a collection. The prefix CID is optional.
- Example
- |CID=CIDxxxxxxx or |CID=xxxxxxx
- |title=
- This is where the title of the collection (not the article’s title) goes. This is the text that would appear in the link. Replace the “title” after the “=” with the collection title.
- |scheduled=
- This line goes in when the collection has not yet been published on FamilySearch.org. When the collection does publish, this line is removed from the coding.
