Clackmannanshire Archives cares for and provides access to the historical records relating to the county. Many of these records were previously held by the Central Region Archives Department at Stirling. Our archive contains the records of the former County of Clackmannan, Clackmannan District, the old Alloa, Alva, Dollar, and Tillicoultry burghs and the Alloa and Hillfoots district councils.

As well as local government records, the repository also contains a number of private deposits of material from local organisations, families, individuals and businesses.

At ScotlandsPeople one can search the indexes and obtain a digital copy of the record for a small fee within minutes. However, sometimes additional help is available from local registrars. For example, proof of death and close family relationship can make more recent records available that would otherwise be restricted by privacy laws.
