Description

There are two official languages in Uganda. [1] [2]

  • English - was the only official language until 2005. The 2nd most spoken language.
  • Swahili - became the second official language in 2005 and the 3rd most spoken language.

Other major language includes:

  • Luganda - also known as Ganda - the most spoken language in the Capital City

Uganda is a multilingual country where over 70 languages are spoken.
Many of these languages fall into four main families:
