Welcome to the England Barn Raising page! A Wiki barn raising is a short, focused community effort to create or revise content relating to a single topic, such as "Getting Started with Genealogical Research in England." The following tasks need to be accomplished during the England Barn Raising in February 2009. Please volunteer to complete one or more tasks by adding your name to this list. Before you can add your name to the list below, you must [http://fch.ldschurch.org/FSWiki/Register/Register8.html <u>register.</u>]&nbsp;After you have registered:
{| class="FCK__ShowTableBorders" style="border-right: rgb(204,204,204) 3px solid; border-top: rgb(204,204,204) 3px solid; margin-top: 1.2em; background: rgb(252,252,252); border-left: rgb(204,204,204) 3px solid; width: 100%; border-bottom: rgb(204,204,204) 3px solid"

#Log in to the Wiki.<br>
#While on this page, with the tasks listed, click the "Edit" option located in the page options box to the right. This will open the "Editing" window.<br>
#Select the task you wish to work on, then input three tildes (<nowiki>~~~</nowiki>) in the "Sign Up..." column (the third column) across from the task description. (Do not type your name--the three tildes will automatically insert your username if you are logged in.)
#Go down to the bottom of the editing page, and click "Save Page" to save your changes.<br>
#Make sure you&nbsp;share your thoughts on the project you're working on in your User page. Also share your thoughts on others' User pages.<br>

'''More than one person may sign up to work on a given task'''. That way, those&nbsp;who sign up for a task can also communicate with each other on what they'ree doing.

Articles about [[England]] and England research topics. Potentially, a large number of volunteers in the community may feel unqualified to write a 'how to' article on a subject of interest, but they are available to do simple tasks that support the writing of articles. This is the place to list and/or volunteer for those tasks!&nbsp; If you're a writer, here's where you can get some help. If you're a volunteer or community member, here's where you can give some!

The Wiki currently has 103,319 articles in English

Scope[edit | edit source]

Articles about England and England research topics. Ideally a child WikiProject could be set-up for each English County which would focus on articles for county level resources and the parishes within each county. Until these are created these are within the scope of this project. Some articles cover both England and Wales and so would also fall within the scope of WikiProject Wales.

Child WikiProjects[edit | edit source]

Tasks[edit | edit source]

See a list of easy tasks that need to be performed on the England pages. If you haven't edited in the Wiki before, we will help you get started, and we will teach you how to perform the task you choose.
