Our professional research specialists are either Accredited or Certified as Professional Genealogists. Research Specialists have extensive knowledge of records and resources, and research experience in the British Isles, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Scandinavia, and the United States. They can also read, write, and speak many languages. Resources are also available to assist you with Asian, African, and Polynesian family history. 


To request assistance at the FamilySearch Library, sign up with the "Get Help" button on any computer or go to the Research Specialist desk on the International B1 floor or the U.S./Canada 2<sup>nd</sup> floor.

Guest Services

Research Specialists are available to answer your research questions in person when you visit the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City! Our professional research specialists are either Accredited or Certified as Professional Genealogists. Research Specialists have extensive knowledge of records and resources, and research experience in the British Isles, Canada, Europe, Latin America, Scandinavia, and the United States. They can also read, write, and speak many languages. Resources are also available to assist you with Asian, African, and Polynesian family history.

To request assistance at the FamilySearch Library, sign up with the "Get Help" button on any computer or go to the Research Specialist desk on the International B1 floor or the U.S./Canada 2nd floor.

To receive assistance from home, you can take online classes in our Learning Center for various localities and subjects, post questions or documents for translation in the Community or sign up for a free online research consultation.

For local research assistance, you can find help at FamilySearch Libraries or FamilySearch Centers. To locate a library or center in your area click on Local Help and enter your zip code or city.
