County Information

Description

Middlesex County was created on 12 May 1785[2] and named for the county of Middlesex, England, which is now part of Greater London, England.[3] The counties in Connecticut do not have county seats. The cities and towns are responsible for all local governmental activities. It is located in the south-central area of the state.

There is no county government today. The government is at the town level.
Probate records may be kept at regional courthouses.
Town Clerks have birth, marriage, death and land records.
Clerk of the Superior Court has divorce and court records from 1800.
Probate Judge has probate records.[4]
