This article describes the services and resources available at a FamilySearch Centre, a branch facility of the FamilySearch Library.

Ample Car Parking space is available during Centre opening times
Ramped access is available for disabled Guests
Access is by way of the single door in the corner to the left of the front of the Chapel

Normal Opening Hours:

Tue: 10:00am-1:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm
Wed: 10:00am-1:00pm

Pandemic Opening Hours. We are maintaining these hour times and will make notification here when back to Normal hours [note date: 20 March 2023]

Tue: 10:00am-12:00noon (Evening visits can be arrange by appointment, so please phone if an evening visit would be more convenient for you.)

Anyone wishing to use the Centre facilities is asked to call ahead of their visit and book an hour slot or more time, if this is desired and is available.

The Centre is closed on Bank Holidays and for 2 weeks over the Christmas period

There is no-longer a film archive ordering service. instead the image contents of the films are now available to view online in the centre. However, please look at the following article for guidance about viewing:

Guests of the FamilySearch Centre can bring their own laptops and using the provided wireless connection, install the Portal Extension to enable personal access to premium websites and Images. This connection will only work whilst in the Chapel environment, not at home. This Help Article: How do we use the FamilySearch Center Premium Content browser extension? explains how to acquire the Portal Extension.

Databases and Software[edit | edit source]

Access to the 3 main Family History database Websites is free and is now by way of a special extension configured in the Chrome and Firefox Browsers.

The sites are ancestry, the findmypast.co.uk free version and the myheritage Library Edition. The full list of available sites can be found here in FamilySearch Wiki

The Churches own familysearch.org Website is available to everyone for research and non-church members can register to use the Website and acquire the use of the 'Familytree' online personal family-tree building tool. The site also offers the uploading of photos and documents (pdf), which in themselves can be genuine sources of family history information. For example the uploading of Birth or Marriage and Death certificates as PDF files (Portable Document Format). Images can be presented as photos or documents once uploaded.
A variety of other research software tools and links to other pertinent family history Websites is available.
