41st Regiment, Tennessee Infantry

Brief History[edit | edit source]

The 41st Regiment, Tennessee Infantry was formed at Camp Cheatham, Tennessee, in November, 1861. Very few were included in the surrender on April 26, 1865. [1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]

Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

The information above is from Goodspeed's History of Tennessee, Vol 8

Company A (Captain James) - many men from Moore County

Company G (Captain C. H. Bean) - many men from Moore County

The information above is from Goodspeed History of Tennessee, vol.6.

The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors database lists 1,982 men on its roster for this unit. Roster.
